Today i am going to talk about two denim trends courtesy LIFESTYLE STORES.
One piece of clothing that i can assure you will never go out of trend is, the denims. It keeps coming back from time to time as the high street trend and we love that casual look, oh so chic!
Denim on denim came back like a storm in 2014 and it is here to stay. Nothing is more casual chic than a good denim piece.
If i ever find a good pair of denims that fits well, it goes straight in my shopping cart. I love different fits, cuts and washes. I have recently been addicted to acid washed jeans and patched ones. I love playing with different shades of denim with graphic tops.
I went down to Lifestyle Stores and found so many options for denims. You seriously should have seen my cart. I was outta control. Since they house so many brands and everything so reasonable, i couldn't help myself but pick out many. But for today i will show you two denim fashion trends i created from Lifestyle Stores. Also, i will share the DO's and DON'Ts of both fashion trends.
Look 1 : DENIM ON DENIM
I fell in love with these jeans. The wash to the fit was just perfect. Paired them up with a floral pink top to match my heels, a light denim shirt and a subtle beige bag.
Here are some DO's and DON'Ts of the Denim on Denim trend:
1. DO: Play with colors if you’re a total beginner
Before delving into shades of double blue, start out by pairing different shades of denim together, like white jeans and a blue denim jacket, or black jeans and a chambray shirt. It’s almost impossible to go wrong this way.
2. DON’T: Wear denim accessories.
Keep the jeans confined to your clothing and just say no to denim shoes, a denim hat, a denim handbag, or any other accessory.
3. DO: Use denim shades to flatter or hide body parts.
As a general rule, lighter shades of denim draw attention to the body parts they cover, while darker washes create a slimming effect. For many women this means that dark denim jeans, and a lighter denim top or jacket is the most flattering way to go.
4. DON’T: Wear a denim outfit that’s all the same shade or wash.
You don’t want to look too matchy matchy.
5. DO: Distress.
Something about distressed denim (ripped jean shorts or jeans) just lends itself well to the denim on denim look. So don’t be afraid to rip away.
6. DON’T: Look to Westerns for inspiration.
Think of denim on denim, and images of cowboys likely come to mind, and that’s not necessarily a good thing—you don’t want to end up looking like a caricature. That means staying away from accessories like cowboy boots, cowboy hats, bolo ties, and Western belts.
7. DO: Dress up your double denim.
Don’t be afraid to elevate your outfit with luxe-looking items including statement heels, a tuxedo blazer, or a fabulous red lip.
Look 2 : THE PATCHWORK
Patchwork denims are so in trend right now. It is just a perfect way to add fun elements to your denims and also a way to voice out your unique style. I found these denim shorts with a cute patch and a patches tee to go with it. To add more colours i accessorised the look with a aztec backpack. I found some amazing pieces at the Lifestyle Store to make this look work.
Here are some DO's and DON'Ts of the Patchwork Denim trend:
1. DO : Play with colors
Add colorful patches on your denims or tee to create a fun look. Space them well to not overwhelm. Also add bright accessories.
2. DON'T : Use bright patches on a printed fabric
Use solid subtle colors under your patches to keep it looking classy and not trashy.
3. DO : Loose fit
When playing with the patches trend keep the easy fit. Too tight and with patches can look trashy.
4. DON'T : Denim patches with bold stitching
Don't get me wrong, i love denim patches on denims but the bold stitching showing is a big no no. Keep it looking clean and well done.
