In summer nothing is better than floral shorts and summer sandals to beat the heat. Here's me spending the hot afternoon at the pool with my sister Nikita at our favorite summer hideaway, squeezing in a quick shoot before jumping in the pool. We love the quiet little pool surrounded by palm trees, it is perfect for a quick summer dip.

HEALTHY & FIT - The Green Smoothie

After a workout our body needs a doze of nutrients and proteins to kick start the recovery. It is very important to have the right post workout meal to avoid snacking on junk and end up taking in huge amounts of calories. A green smoothie is perfect to fill you up with the right amount of calories and give your body the nutrients it needs to recover for the next day workout.
Usually after a high intensity workout my body craves for calories, if i don't plan and prepare my post workout meal, i end up eating just anything i can find in my fridge. It leaves me feeling guilty that i consumed more calories than what i just burnt. So it is very important to fill your fridge with whole foods and plan your post workout meal.
So here is a quick and easy recipe for a green smoothie i make after every workout:

Ingredients:
1. 2 cups of Spinach
2. 3 cups of fresh fruits (Banana, Apple, mango)
3. 1/2 cup of Carrots
4. 2 cups of liquid (Low fat milk or Coconut milk or Water)
5. 1 tsp of Chia Seeds
6. 2 tbsp Protein powder

1. First blend the spinach leaves and the liquid base, to avoid chunky pieces of leaves.

2. Then add the fruits, carrots and chia seeds. Blend well.

3. In the end, add the protein powder and blend well. Your green smoothie is ready!

This green smoothie takes just 5 minutes to make and fills you up well. Then you are not that crazy hungry beast and can plan you next meal with sanity :)
I love this smoothie and i hope it helps you all as well.
I am planning to do a workout post soon, i have a new workout plan i just started on, so very soon i will share with you guys.
Happy healthy living.

QUIRKY BIRDS

Midi skirts are a huge trend this year and quirky prints are an even bigger trend this season.
Midi skirts are great for every season as one can pair them with crop tops and sandals for summer and for winter you can pair them with booties and a warm jacket. So it wins both ways and it also adds a feminine touch to the look.
This skirt by QUIRK BOX is so adorable with colorful birds print and a high waist fit. Collaborating with QUIRK BOX has been so great and i absolutely recommend their stand out pieces.
For the warm weather today i wore this midi skirt with a bandage crop top, classic red pumps & my favorite Prada bag.
Here are some pictures of me hanging on my terrace, photographed by my sister Nikita. We have such a great equation that shoots with her are always fabulous.

IT GIRL { Style Feature} - RITIKA MAHTANI

Our IT GIRL this week is the gorgeous and forever smiling, Ritika Mahtani.
She was born and brought up in Spain, now based in Pune, India and is a marketing exec with Zomato.
She wears her fashion with comfort and elegance, with a zing of colored accessories and a big smile.
Shoting these looks with her at the beautiful EURISKA was beyond fun and i am in love with her extensive collection of jewelry and accessories. She is a warm & friendly person, beautiful inside out indeed.
Here's a small interview to know her better :

Tell us a little bit about yourself

Born and brought up in Spain & grew up by the beach so I'm a total water baby, I'm an avid traveler, animal lover and a total brat. Life has to taught be to be a survivor, fight for what I love and always stand up for the people close to my heart. My dad taught me to always be truthful no matter what while Mum taught me to be compassionate, these are two qualities I will swear by throughout my life. I'm blessed with beautiful parents and fantastic friends who have stood by me through thick and thin.

How would you describe your personal style?

I wear what I'm comfortable in, I don't really have one personal style, I'll go from boho to hippie to vintage to sweat pants and tank tops, depending on the mood and occasion. Wear what you want, walk out with a huge smile and keep it classy.

What are your passions?

I love travelling, nothing gets better than exploring a new place, getting to know different cultures and experiencing new things. I am extremely passionate about animals and animal rights. I've always been aggressive about my work so to de-stress I sing, bake, indulge in creative cooking & dance my problems away. Sundays are perfect for indulging in a good book, fashion magazines, reading up on thought catalog and Spending time with my dog, Coco Angel.

What is in your handbag?

Body Shop Lip butter & fleur de vanille eau de toillette , Bath & Body works hand sanitizer & hand cream, Chanel compact, M.A.C eyeliner, Guerlain bronzer, Chanel 5 Perfume, notebook, phone charger, iPod, keys, wallet, iPad, mint, sunglasses, hairbands, Aspirin and Eucalyptus Oil.

Your favorite fashion destination?

Messina - Italy & Barcelona

Favorite color at the moment?

Coral this summer, otherwise half my wardrobe is filled with black.

What do you think is a notable trend today and what are your thoughts on it?

I think Crop tops and High waisted 'anything' is super chic, if you have the body to pull it off then go all out. Also, coral, baby pink and sky blue are very in this season.

What do you spend money on the most?

Watches, clothes, shoes & going all out in restaurants all over the world.

What is your most adored piece in your closet?

Mums hand me downs. You can never go wrong with Vintage.

What's on your iPod at the moment?

Passenger - Let her go.

BEAUTY TALK - Dewy Skin Highlighter & Favorite Scents

Hey guys! So i have decided to start a new feature called BEAUTY TALK on Mariposa Love.
Beauty Talk is going to be all about the beauty products i use & love, different makeup looks of the season & shopping hauls.
As i was planning this post i didn't know where to start, as there is so much i want to talk to you guys about.
So i decided to start with my latest shopping haul from Sephora and perfumes which i am using this season.
I went in specifically for my favorite highlighter which i have used so much these past months and has touched pan. It is the Sephora's highlighting compact powder in rose pink. It is hands down the best highlighter from all the ones i have used till now. It has the perfect shine particles for that dewy look which makes the skin look so healthy and smooth.

Here is a picture of me wearing the highlighter. The highlighter is visible mostly when one light source falls on the face, makes it perfect for a night out flash photo ready look.

So talking about Sephora, it is my favorite shopping destination for beauty products. It houses some of the top brands and the whole experience is amazing. They also give you a lot of testers when you check out which i always look forward to. This time i received three perfumes, the Narciso Rodriguez for her, Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet and the Fendi Blossom. I am going to test them all and see if any of them win for a full bottle buy.

Talking ahead about the perfumes i am using right now.
Aqua Allegoria Flora Rosa by Guerlain is my latest one and i love it to bits. The notes are rose with red berries which starts with fresh citrus notes and then develops into a crisp rose. It is quite a linear, simple fragrance which stays around 3 hours on my skin and is a both day and night scent. I like it because it is a non offensive, light lingering real rose which smells so elegant. And bottle is a vintage elegance, an absolute keeper!

The other is Chloe L'Eau de Chloe. It is a limited edition by Chloe and is very similar to the original Chloe edp but with more freshness. L'eau de Chloe starts out very citrus, like frozen lemonade but I can also smell the fresh green patchouli. The patchouli smells like it's been freshly cut at its greenest, most vibrant point in it's growth. When the citrus notes settle down, they reveal the rose bellow. This is the heart of the fragrance. The song of Chloe. Stays about 4 hours on my skin. A perfect day wear scent!

Coming on to my night time scent, Coco Noir by Chanel is heavenly. Stays almost 8 hours on my skin which is quite what i expect from Chanel. As many of us already know the Coco Mademoiselle, there is hardly any similarities. Just the patchouli maybe. The patchouli note is earthy in Coco Noir while the note in Coco Mademoiselle is brighter. I look at the two fragrances as if Noir is the sophisticated, mysterious sister and Mademoiselle is the bright, bubbly sister. The scent opens with bright grapefruit and bergamot, the middle note is floral bursts of jasmine & rose and then it dries down to a lovely vanilla-patchouli-incense-tonka beans scent. That is what i love love love about Chanel perfumes, they are so complex & so beautifully blended.

Hope you all like this post and thank you for bearing with my endless chatter. Have a lovely week ahead.
xx
